Logo doesn’t link to the homepage

Shoppers expect the logo to take them home; when it doesn’t, they lose their easiest way back.

Checked on: every page the audit scans except the homepage · Zolvio’s check: “Missing logo link to homepage”

Why it costs you sales

Clicking the logo to get back to the homepage is one of the oldest habits on the web. When the logo isn’t a link, or goes somewhere else, shoppers who wanted to start over have to hunt for another way back.

How Zolvio detects it

On every page it scans except the homepage, Zolvio finds the logos or store name in the page’s header (a header element, or Shopify’s header section), by the class names themes give them (such as header__heading-link or site-header__logo) or a logo image, and checks where they link. A theme can show one logo on desktop and another on phones, so the page passes when any of them links to your homepage (the store’s root, or a language root such as /fr). Logos inside a drawer or pop-up, such as the phone menu’s, are ignored.

If no logo is a link, or none links home, the page is flagged. A logo that links to another site’s homepage isn’t judged, since that can be another of your store’s domains, and pages whose header has no logo Zolvio can recognize are left alone.

Members-only pages aren’t judged: a page without an add-to-cart form that shows a password or verification form in its content, such as a lock app’s (Easy Lockdown, Locksmith) or a VIP sign-in in the theme. A sign-in box in the header, the footer, a pop-up or a drawer doesn’t count, since it’s on every page. Neither is a product page used for a consultation or a quote: one without an add-to-cart form whose main content asks the shopper to request a quote, talk to a specialist or book a consultation. An ask your buyable product pages show too, such as a banner on every page, doesn’t count.

How to fix it

  1. In the theme editor, open the Header section and check the logo is set; current themes link it to the homepage for you.
  2. If the header has been customized, open sections/header.liquid in the code editor and make sure the logo (or store name) sits inside a link to {{ routes.root_url }}, which also keeps shoppers in their language.
  3. If the logo is only an image, give the link an accessible name, such as your store name.
  4. Open a product page and click the logo: it should take you home.

In Zolvio: on paid plans with AI turned on, the guided fix writes these steps for your own store and theme: where to click in Shopify admin or the theme editor, or which file to open, the line to find and the code to add. Each file opens in Shopify’s code editor. Zolvio never edits your theme: you make the change, then Verify fix checks your published theme for code changes (or you mark it fixed), and later audits confirm the problem is gone.
