No filters on collection pages
Shoppers browsing a collection of more than 30 products can’t narrow it down by size, color or price.
Checked on: collection pages · Zolvio’s check: “No collection filtering”
Why it costs you sales
On a collection with dozens of products, shoppers want to narrow it to their size, color or budget. Without filters they scroll and scan, and the product they’d have bought may never come into view.
How Zolvio detects it
Zolvio reads the text a shopper can see on your collection pages, measured in a real browser (hidden text, text only screen readers get, and scripts don’t count; image and icon labels do), and looks for the word filter. It also accepts filter elements: Shopify’s filter inputs (filter.* fields), Shopify’s filter links for the collection in the page’s content (?filter.…), a facet filters form, or anything whose class names facets, a facet filter, a collection filter or a filter group. Filter apps that draw their filters in the shopper’s browser count by their scripts (listed below). A collection page with none of them is flagged. Sorting alone doesn’t count.
Only collections big enough to need filters are judged: the page must show product cards, and the collection must have more than 30 products (the larger of what the collection’s product list returns and the cards its page shows). An empty collection, a “page not found”, or a grid an app draws in the shopper’s browser shows no cards, so it isn’t judged.
Only English pages are judged (the page’s language tag, or Shopify’s language for the store when the theme sets none), since some of the words it looks for are English.
Members-only pages aren’t judged: a page without an add-to-cart form that shows a password or verification form in its content, such as a lock app’s (Easy Lockdown, Locksmith) or a VIP sign-in in the theme. A sign-in box in the header, the footer, a pop-up or a drawer doesn’t count, since it’s on every page.

How to fix it
- Install Shopify’s free Search & Discovery app and add the filters you want under Filters, such as availability, price, product type and options like size and color.
- In the theme editor, open a collection template and turn on filtering in the product grid section; current themes support Shopify’s filters.
- If your theme doesn’t, the filters come from the collection.filters Liquid object and need adding to the collection template.
- Open a collection page, on desktop and on a phone, to check the filters show and work.
In Zolvio: on paid plans with AI turned on, the guided fix writes these steps for your own store and theme: where to click in Shopify admin or the theme editor, or which file to open, the line to find and the code to add. Each file opens in Shopify’s code editor. Zolvio never edits your theme: you make the change, then Verify fix checks your published theme for code changes (or you mark it fixed), and later audits confirm the problem is gone.
