Product page says nothing about delivery or returns
Nothing on the product page mentions delivery or returns except the footer’s policy links, so shoppers deciding at the buy button can’t see what delivery costs, how long it takes or whether they can send the product back.
Checked on: product pages · Zolvio’s check: “Product page says nothing about delivery or returns”
Why it costs you sales
What delivery costs, how long it takes and whether the product can go back are part of deciding to buy. A shopper at the buy button who can’t see them either goes looking or carries on to checkout expecting a surprise.
Shopify footers link the store’s policies, so a store can look covered while its product pages say nothing. One line near the buy button, such as “Free shipping over $50 · ships in 2 days · 30-day returns”, answers both questions where shoppers decide.
How Zolvio detects it
Zolvio reads the text a shopper can see on each product page, measured in a real browser, except the links in the footer: the product section (lines it shows only after a tap, such as a tab, a pop-up or a phone-only line, included), the header and every message of a rotating announcement bar, the sections below, and the footer’s own text. Image and icon labels count; a closed cart drawer doesn’t.
It looks for a word about getting the product or sending it back: ship, shipping, shipped, deliver, delivery, dispatch, arrive, arrival, postage, courier, freight, click & collect or pickup, or return, refund, exchange, money-back, guarantee, risk-free or trial. The page is flagged when there’s none, and the finding lists the product and the footer links that mention them.
Only products that ship are judged, and only ones among the first 250 products your store’s public product list (/products.json) returns: a product it doesn’t list, a gift card or a product that needs no shipping, such as a download, isn’t. Neither is a page whose product area couldn’t be read, or a page that isn’t in English: its language tag, or Shopify’s language for the store when the theme sets none, must be English.
The audit’s browser doesn’t load other companies’ files, so it can’t read text an app draws only in a shopper’s browser, and it can’t read words inside images. That’s why this finding goes through AI review before it’s reported.
Members-only pages aren’t judged: a page without an add-to-cart form that shows a password or verification form in its content, such as a lock app’s (Easy Lockdown, Locksmith) or a VIP sign-in in the theme. A sign-in box in the header, the footer, a pop-up or a drawer doesn’t count, since it’s on every page. Neither is a product page used for a consultation or a quote: one without an add-to-cart form whose main content asks the shopper to request a quote, talk to a specialist or book a consultation. An ask your buyable product pages show too, such as a banner on every page, doesn’t count.
A store that sells by quote isn’t judged on this: one whose product pages show “Add to quote”, “Request a quote” or “Get a quote”, and none shows “Add to cart”, “Add to bag”, “Add to basket” or “Buy now”.
This finding is reported after AI review: on paid plans with AI turned on, the AI agent checks it against the audit’s evidence before it reaches your issue list. Audits without AI report only the 22 measured checks.
How to fix it
- In the theme editor, open the product template and add a text block, or a collapsible row, right under the buy buttons.
- Say what delivery costs and how long it takes, and your return window, for example “Free shipping over $50 · ships in 2 days · 30-day returns”. Check your rates in Settings → Shipping and delivery so the line matches checkout.
- Link the words to your shipping and refund policies (Settings → Policies), so shoppers can read the details.
- Open a product page on a phone and check the line shows near the buy button.
This is a change in the theme editor, not to theme code.
In Zolvio: on paid plans with AI turned on, the guided fix writes these steps for your own store and theme: where to click in Shopify admin or the theme editor, or which file to open, the line to find and the code to add. Each file opens in Shopify’s code editor. Zolvio never edits your theme: you make the change, then Verify fix checks your published theme for code changes (or you mark it fixed), and later audits confirm the problem is gone.
