Cart shows no subtotal or total
Shoppers can’t see what they’ll pay before checkout, so they hesitate or leave to work it out.

Why it costs you sales
Before committing to checkout, shoppers want to see what the order comes to. A cart with no subtotal or total leaves them guessing, and a guess is a reason to stop.
How Zolvio detects it
With its own item in the cart (see below), Zolvio reads the text a shopper can see on your cart page, measured in a real browser (hidden text, text only screen readers get, and scripts don’t count; image and icon labels do), and looks for subtotal, total, order summary or cart summary. If none of them are there, the page is flagged.
The item goes in through Shopify’s cart API in a private browser session that’s thrown away afterwards; checkout is never opened and nothing is bought.
Only English pages are judged (the page’s language tag, or Shopify’s language for the store when the theme sets none), since some of the words it looks for are English.
A store that sells by quote isn’t judged on this: one whose product pages show “Add to quote”, “Request a quote” or “Get a quote”, and none shows “Add to cart”, “Add to bag”, “Add to basket” or “Buy now”.

How to fix it
- In the theme editor, open the cart template and turn on the subtotal in the cart footer section.
- If your store uses a cart drawer, check it shows the subtotal too.
- Add a product to your cart and check the subtotal appears next to the checkout button.
