Sale savings not shown in the cart
The item in the cart is on sale, but the cart hides the saving, so shoppers may doubt the deal.
Checked on: the cart (with an item in it) · Zolvio’s check: “Savings not highlighted”
Why it costs you sales
A shopper who added an item because it was on sale wants to see the deal carried through. A cart that shows only the price, with no saving or original price, invites second thoughts.
How Zolvio detects it
Zolvio fills its cart with a product on sale (one whose compare-at price is higher than its price) when it finds one among the first 10 product pages it checks. When the item in the cart is on sale, it reads the text a shopper can see on the cart page, measured in a real browser (hidden text, text only screen readers get, and scripts don’t count; image and icon labels do), and looks for the saving: wording such as you save, savings, discount, % off, sale price, regular price, compare at, was or reduced, or the item’s compare-at price itself. A round compare-at price also counts written without cents, with its currency sign or code (“$307” for $307.00), but never as part of a longer number (“$3070”, “$307.50”). If neither shows, the page is flagged. A cart holding a full-price item isn’t judged.
Only English pages are judged (the page’s language tag, or Shopify’s language for the store when the theme sets none), since some of the words it looks for are English.
A store that sells by quote isn’t judged on this: one whose product pages show “Add to quote”, “Request a quote” or “Get a quote”, and none shows “Add to cart”, “Add to bag”, “Add to basket” or “Buy now”.

This finding is reported after AI review: on paid plans with AI turned on, the AI agent checks it against the audit’s evidence before it reaches your issue list. Audits without AI report only the 22 measured checks.
How to fix it
- In the theme editor, open the cart template and check whether your theme can show compare-at prices or savings in the cart.
- If it can’t, a developer or a cart app can show the compare-at price struck through next to each sale item.
- In the product admin, check your sale items have a compare-at price set, so there’s a saving to show.
In Zolvio: on paid plans with AI turned on, the guided fix writes these steps for your own store and theme: where to click in Shopify admin or the theme editor, or which file to open, the line to find and the code to add. Each file opens in Shopify’s code editor. Zolvio never edits your theme: you make the change, then Verify fix checks your published theme for code changes (or you mark it fixed), and later audits confirm the problem is gone.
