Price missing from the product page

Shoppers who can’t see the price can’t decide, and many won’t ask.

Checked on: product pages · Zolvio’s check: “Missing or hidden price”

Why it costs you sales

Price is part of every buying decision. If it’s missing, or only appears somewhere shoppers don’t look, they either go hunting for it or assume the worst.

How Zolvio detects it

Zolvio reads the text a shopper can see in the product area, the section around the product’s own add-to-cart form: the main product section’s, else the first one outside the header, menus, search results, the cart drawer and other products’ cards (the whole page when there’s no add-to-cart form), measured in a real browser (hidden text, text only screen readers get, and scripts don’t count; image and icon labels do), and looks for a price: a currency symbol or code next to a number, such as $24, €24, 24 € or USD 24. Some subscription apps draw the purchase options and their prices in the shopper’s browser, so their scripts loading on the page count too (the apps are listed below). If there’s none of these, the page is flagged.

A gift card sold through a gift-card app isn’t judged: the product is a gift card (in your store’s product list, or by its type in Shopify’s product data) and the page has no add-to-cart form, since such apps draw the amounts, the price and the buy button in the shopper’s browser from their own servers, which the audit’s browser doesn’t load.

Members-only pages aren’t judged: a page without an add-to-cart form that shows a password or verification form in its content, such as a lock app’s (Easy Lockdown, Locksmith) or a VIP sign-in in the theme. A sign-in box in the header, the footer, a pop-up or a drawer doesn’t count, since it’s on every page. Neither is a product page used for a consultation or a quote: one without an add-to-cart form whose main content asks the shopper to request a quote, talk to a specialist or book a consultation. An ask your buyable product pages show too, such as a banner on every page, doesn’t count.

This finding is reported after AI review: on paid plans with AI turned on, the AI agent checks it against the audit’s evidence before it reaches your issue list. Audits without AI report only the 22 measured checks.

AI screenshot review also looks for this problem (“Price missing or hard to see”) in desktop and mobile screenshots. When both find it, you get one issue.

How to fix it

  1. In the theme editor, open your product template and check the Price block is in the product information section.
  2. Place it close to the product title and the Add to cart button, large enough to spot at a glance.
  3. If the price itself is missing, set it on the product in Shopify admin (Products → the product → Pricing).
  4. For sales, set a Compare-at price so the original price shows crossed out.

In Zolvio: on paid plans with AI turned on, the guided fix writes these steps for your own store and theme: where to click in Shopify admin or the theme editor, or which file to open, the line to find and the code to add. Each file opens in Shopify’s code editor. Zolvio never edits your theme: you make the change, then Verify fix checks your published theme for code changes (or you mark it fixed), and later audits confirm the problem is gone.
